Service Description

This Beginner's Sewing Class focuses on building basic sewing skills and confidence in your new hobby! This session we will be using a classic tank top pattern as a springboard into pattern alteration and hacking! You will learn how to transfer patterns, make a muslin and alter it for a custom fit. We will cover basics like bias tape binding and hemming before moving onto pattern hacking. We will cover how to modify a pattern to add a button band, pintucks and color blocking and each student will make several variations of this simple garment for their closets. We provide material for making muslins, but students will be responsible for bringing their own fabric for finished garments. **Please note that Intro to Your Sewing Machine (offered monthly on Saturdays) is a prerequisite if you have never sewn before. We also highly recommend taking it if you are getting back to sewing after a long break from it. This course will serve as a refresher and gets everyone on the same page before entering into the more complicated projects in Beginner Sewing.
