About the Event
At AdkArtRise, individuals are invited to create their dream house out of materials they may have readily available to them, including cardboard and any other recyclables or found objects. If would-be cardboard architects are not sure where to start they are encouraged to  cut out a piece of cardboard and Imagine that is your plot of land. Next, participants can start to dream about what size house they would put on that plot. A tiny house with lots of farm lands? A mansion that takes up the whole plot? A tower fifteen stories tall? Individuals can make their house at home or go to the Adk ArtRise on Sunday, October 23, 2022 for a free workshop and open house.
Note: students who are able to use a hot glue gun and X-acto knife without supervision may attend alone, but children who are not familiar with those tools should be accompanied by an adult.
Housing Inspired art will be featured throughout Saranac Lake beginning on October 31st and will be moved and continually added to in the towns of Lake Placid, Malone and Plattsburgh over the winter months.  All of the opportunities to engage with this project are free and open to the public. Participants are invited to check out https://adirondack.org/housing-learning-sessions to learn more about the cooperative housing project and AdkArtRise’s webpage with information and templates on house building.
