New generations (tiny tots)
Cornhusk dolls are traditional children’s toys in my culture, my people (the Haudenosaunee) do not put faces on our Cornhusk dolls as a reminder that vanity can be an obstacle preventing us from accomplishing our appointed tasks. I believe that it is the older generations task to not only look after the next generation but also prepare them to take up space as strong, resilient indigenous peoples. The colors I chose for the regalia’s are orange and red, the orange is to honor all of our many lost generations of children who never made it home from residential schools. The red is to honor all lost generations of missing and murdered women, girls, and two spirit relatives.
